Once you go Mac, you’ll never go back
It’s true what they say about making the switch - after you do it, you look back and wonder why the hell it took you so long to do it.
The reason that it took me so long to switch from a PC to a Mac, and I’m sure I’m not alone in this, was purely financial. However, I don’t view the financial commitment involved in making the switch quite the same way many others do.
I’ve heard many people complain over the years that “Macs are just way too expensive” which is simply not true. Sure, the initial outlay of cash for buying a Mac is, indeed, considerable but any computer system that is truly worth its price tag will require a considerable investment.
Plus, buying a computer is just like anything else - you get what you pay for. You can pay a few hundred dollars less and buy a PC running the Windows operating system but it is almost guaranteed that you will end up spending more money upgrading and fixing the problems inherent with that system, and in the end you’ll end up spending more money on the PC - not to mention, endless wasted hours of frustration trying to diagnose problems on your own or, worse yet, spending hours on the phone with a manufacturer tech support representative who, in reality, provides very little support.
Price points aside, it should be noted (and more important) that working on a Mac is a thing of true aesthetic beauty in every way imaginable. You can see how much care and design went into the planning and execution, both from a hardware and a software perspective.
OS X’s interface is nothing short of elegant, as is (most) all native software built specifically for OS X. And everyone is familiar with Apple’s hardware: sleek, sophisticated, smart. I’ve heard people say before that, from a creative standpoint, the Mac gets out of the way and let’s you focus on doing what you need to be doing and I find that to be true every day I spend working with my new Macbook Pro.
I’m definitely a hardcore Apple fanboy and could never go back to Winblows. Not in a million years.
